Based on John O'Brien's 1990 semi-autobiographical novel, about a screenwriter who, having lost everything else in his life, moves to Las Vegas in order to drink himself to death. Nominated for four Academy Awards, winning one for Best Actor for Cage. O'Brien died by suicide two weeks after signing away the film rights to his novel.

Shot on location in Las Vegas.
