Formed in 1984, Heathen become one of the leaders of the Bay Area thrash metal scene in the late 1980s and released their first, self-released cassette, "Pray for Death," in 1986 before being signed to Combat Records, which released their debut album, "Breaking the Silence," selling about 100,000 copies worldwide.
