Loosely based on the life of Roy L. "Rocky" Dennis (played by Eric Stoltz), a boy with a rare skeletal disorder causing disfigurement and a shortened life expectancy, who, along with his mother (Cher), attempts to live a normal life regardless of people's preconceptions. Winner of an Academy Award and nominated for the Palme d'Or.

Shot on location in southern California.
