Bantam Books, 1987. First Edition. a paperback original. Nicely INSCRIBED by the author in the first year of publication, in San Francisco, on the title page: "For — / Thanks for the compliment / Enjoy! / All good wishes / Robert Crais / 24 July 1988 / S.F."

Laid in is an "Elvis Cole / Detective" business card that Crais gave out right around this time when signing. Completing the picture you get surrounding the signing of the book is the stamp of San Francisco's legendary "Mystery Bookstore" with the store's 24th and Diamond Street address, and a phone number with no area code.

Slightest spine lean from one careful reading, and two extremely faint vertical creases, visible only on close inspection. A wonderful copy of an important first mystery novel.
