The Voyage of Captain Popanilla

London: Henry Colburn, 1828. First Edition. Copy with a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown, with a pencil annotation on the front endpaper, dated "11/6/59," "The first book by Disraeli, presented to BBG [Beatrice Blackmar Gould] and BG [Bruce Gould] by Maurice Edelman, M.P. and a LHJ ["Ladies Home Journal"] author."

Israel Maurice Edelman was a British Labour Party politician, journalist, and novelist from Wales who represented Coventry constituencies in the House of Commons for over 30 years, from 1945 until his death in 1974.

Beatrice Blackmar Gould, and her husband Bruce Gould, were co-editors of the "Ladies Home Journal" from 1935 through 1962. It was under their leadership that the magazine became the top-selling women's magazine in the country for nearly 30 years, largely due to their efforts to modernize the journal and broaden its subject matter for the emancipated woman. The pair co-wrote the autobiography, "American Story: Memories and Reflections of Bruce Gould and Beatrice Blackmar Gould," published by Harper and Row in 1968.

Good, with no dust jacket as issued. Moderate rubbing to the boards, with the front board separating, and loss at the crown and heel of the spine.
