The Peacock Spring
London: Macmillan London Limited, 1975. First Edition. INSCRIBED by the author on the front endpaper, "For Beatrice and Bruce from Rumer."
Bruce Gould and his wife Beatrice Blackmar Gould were co-editors of the "Ladies Home Journal" from 1935 through 1962. It was under their leadership that the magazine became the top-selling women's magazine in the country for nearly 30 years, largely due to their efforts to modernize the journal and broaden its subject matter for the emancipated woman. The pair co-wrote the autobiography, "American Story: Memories and Reflections of Bruce Gould and Beatrice Blackmar Gould," published by Harper and Row in 1968.
Very Good plus in a Very Good dust jacket. Light foxing to the page edges, with light toning to the extremities of the boards. Jacket moderately toned to the spine, with edgewear to the crown and heel, and a .5 inch closed tear at the bottom of the rear panel.
