Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1942. First Edition. Basis for the 1946 film noir starring Richard Basehart and Joan Leslie, recently restored in collaboration with UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Packard Humanities Institute, and released by Flicker Alley. Rare.

Faint foxing to the boards and text block, contemporary owner name to the front endpaper, overall Very Good plus in a Very Good or better dust jacket. Jacket with a pinhole to the bottom right corner of the front panel, light foxing to the flaps, a moderately faded spine, and a spot of toning to the center left of the rear panel (see image).
