Based on the 2012 book "Gangster Squad: Covert Cops, the Mob, and the Battle for Los Angeles" by Paul Lieberman. A dramatization of the formation of the "Gangster Squad," a team of Los Angeles police officers and detectives tasked with taking down a prominent crime boss.

Set in 1949 Los Angeles, shot on location in Los Angeles.
