Based on William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson's 1967 novel. A key science fiction film, reinvigorating the genre on screen and paving the way for "Star Wars" the following year. Winner of the Academy Award for Special Achievement, and nominated for two others, including Best Cinematography.

Shot on location in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston, Texas.

White titled MGM wrappers, dated March 3, 1975, with credits for director Michael Anderson and screenwriter David Zelag Goodman.
