N.p. N.p., 1970. Vintage press photograph of actor Dustin Hoffman smoking a cigarette and searching through trash cans outside his home in New York in the wake of the Greenwich Village townhouse explosion, 1970. Printed mimeo snipe and provenance label affixed to the verso.

On March 6, 1970, members of leftist militant group the Weather Underground accidentally detonated one of the bombs they were making in the basement of 18 West 11th Street. The resultant series of explosions killed three Weathermen, destroyed the townhouse, and seriously damaged the adjacent houses, which included Hoffman's home. The bombs had been intended for multiple targets, including Fort Dix in New Jersey and the administration building of Columbia University.
