Stranger Than Paradise
N.p. Cinesthesia Productions, 1984. Seven vintage photographs from the 1984 film, including six studio stills and one reference photograph. One with a production company label on the verso, and five with provenance labels to same.
Director Jim Jarmusch's first effort, "Permanent Vacation" (1980), was his final thesis at New York University's film school. As with the earliest films of Jean-Pierre Melville and David Lynch, he then spent four years making "Stranger than Paradise," shooting as money allowed. The resulting film was the stunning breakthrough of an auteur who both understood his masters and paved the way for a new kind of cinema.
8 x 10 inches. Near Fine to Fine, one with annotations in manuscript pencil to the margins.
