N.p. N.p., Late 1950s-1963. Two vintage publicity portrait photographs and one press photograph of R&B and pop musician Al Hibbler, the former dating from the mid-1950s and the latter dating from 1963. The press photograph shows Hibbler being arrested in Birmingham in 1963 as part of a large civil rights protest.

One publicity photograph with the stamp of Dell Publishing on the verso, and press photograph with a mimeo snipe and date stamp on the verso. All three photographs with provenance labels on the verso.

Al Hibbler sang with Duke Ellington's orchestra for almost eight years, later signing with Decca, where he found success as a solo artist. He became involved in civil rights activism in the 1950s, a decision which alarmed major record labels but attracted the attention of Frank Sinatra, who signed Hibbler to his label, Reprise Records, in the early 1960s.
