Babette Mangolte worked as a photographer, experimental filmmaker, and cinematographer throughout the 1970s and 1980s, collaborating with a number of notable filmmakers, including Jonas Mekas, Stan Brakhage, and Chantal Akerman. She works today as a professor at the University of California, San Diego.
