Of particular note is an image of actors Marian Marsh and Edward Arnold on the set, as well as multiple striking images of Peter Lorre in close-up.
One of Josef von Sternberg's most distinctive films, and his first with Columbia Pictures, based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's classic 1866 novel, starring Lorre as anguished murderer Raskolnikov.
