They Live by Night [The Twisted Road]
Los Angeles: RKO Radio Pictures, 1948. Collection of 4 vintage studio still photographs from the 1948 film noir. An interesting historical artifact in that each of these has a label with a corrected title reading "They Live By Night" pasted over the original release title, "The Twisted Road." One of the four photos has this label roughly removed in a demonstrative fashion (see images).
Based on Edward Anderson's 1937 novel "Thieves Like Us," about an escaped convict who falls in love with a woman who nurses him back to health after he is injured in a robbery. Nicholas Ray's directorial debut, a "doomed lovers" tale that is considered by many to be a forerunner to "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967).
Generally 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus to Near Fine.
