Director Danny Boyle's second and best-known film, an adaptation of the acclaimed 1993 novel by Irvine Welsh, a darkly comic examination of the life of a heroin addict trying desperately to extract himself from his habit and the accompanying lifestyle. McGregor rose to international stardom on the strength of his performance as the lead, Mark Renton, and would return for the sequel, "T2 Trainspotting," released in 2017.
