Original photograph of Sammy Davis Jr. and Geraldine Chaplin backstage following a performance of "Golden Boy," 1965

Sammy Davis Jr., Geraldine Chaplin

N.p. N.p., 1965. Vintage photograph of Sammy Davis Jr. and Geraldine Chaplin in Davis' dressing room, following the December 10, 1965 performance of "Golden Boy," at the Majestic Theatre. Provenance sticker, a small article clipping, a "Dec 12 1965" date stamp, and a mimeo snipe affixed to the verso, partly obscuring a photo credit stamp.

The mimeo snipe and article clipping on the verso notes that Chaplin is starring in the upcoming film "Dr. Zhivago," and "flew into town on Wednesday for the... film premiere."

Based on the 1937 play by Clifford Odets, the 1964-1966 Broadway musical, directed by Arthur Penn, opened on October 20, 1964 at the Majestic Theatre and ran for 568 performances. The role was reprised by Davis for the West End production at the London Palladium in 1968.

10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with light rippling and creasing.
