A Time to Love and a Time to Die

Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1958. Vintage press kit for the 1958 film. Includes a full-color pocketed folder with 17 black-and-white photographs from the film, a French newspaper clipping about the film, and a printed illustration of a soldier returning home. Three photographs with mimeo snipes affixed to the versos.

Notable among the photographs are two showing cast and crew members on the set, one of John Gavin holding his young children, and a portrait of Liselotte Pulver that has been INSCRIBED by Pulver at the bottom left corner: "Cordialement [Cordially] / Liselotte Pulver."

The pocket of the folder notes additional materials provided, although these are missing from the kit.

Based on Erich Maria Remarque's 1954 novel, set during World War II, on the Eastern Front. A German soldier returns home to find his family's house bombed and his parents gone. He begins to struggle to keep his sanity, and survives with the help of the daughter of a political prisoner.

Shot on location in Berlin.
