The Scarlet Letter
Beverly Hills, CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM], 1926. Two vintage reference photographs from the 1926 silent film, one showing Lillian Gish as Hester Prynne on the stocks, the other showing actors Edna Lyons and Paulette Neville in costume, playfully dancing out of character between takes on the set. Mimeo snipes on the versos.
The second film Gish made while under contract with MGM, still widely considered the finest screen adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's classic 1850 novel to date.
Set in Boston.
10 x 8 inches. Very Good or better, lightly faded and slightly edgeworn, but with no loss.
