Frederick began her acting career on the stage, and made her film debut in her 30s, as Donna Roma in "The Eternal City" (1915). Although she was able to make a successful transition to the sound era, her career was cut short due to complications from abdomen surgery in 1936, and two years later, she suffered a fatal asthma attack, leading to her death at the age of 55. She is perhaps best remembered today for her appearance in the 1924 film "Three Women."
