Based on James Ellroy's 1990 novel, the third in his L.A. Quartet series. Three detectives are tasked with investigating a serious of grisly murders in 1950s Los Angeles, which they learn are linked to a notorious gang leader, high-class escorts, and widespread corruption within the police force. A formidable nod to film noir.
Nominated for nine Academy Awards, winning two for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger.
Shot on location throughout Los Angeles.
