The Sign of the Cross

Based on the 1895 play by Wilson Barrett, a historical epic set in the days of the Roman Empire, during Nero's reign. The final film in DeMille's Biblical trilogy, preceded by "The Ten Commandments" (1923) and "The King of Kings" (1927). The film was heavily censored and reissued after the Production Code began to be strictly enforced in 1934, cutting a lesbian dance scene and scenes of naked women being attacked by crocodiles and a gorilla.
