Based on the classic 1995 novel by Patricia Highsmith, about the titular Tom Ripley, a handsome, soulless drifter who is drawn to—and increasingly obsessed by—his friend, wealthy American traveler Dickie Greenleaf. The third Ripley adaptation, following "Purple Noon" (1960) and "The American Friend" (1977), and followed by the superb 2024 television series "Ripley," starring Andrew Scott.

Shot on location in New York City, and in Ischia, Procida, Anzio, Venice, and Rome, Italy.
