Based on the 1937 play "Parfumerie" by Hungarian writer Miklos Laszlo, and a musical remake of Ernst's Lubitsch's 1940 film "The Shop Around the Corner," about two constantly bickering coworkers, who are unaware they are also each other's anonymous, romantic pen pals. Liza Minnelli's film debut at three years old, as she appears in the film's final shot with her mother.
